Wendy has over 30 years’ experience as a Corporate Finance Adviser, 22 of them as Corporate Finance Partner for Grant Thornton UK LLP. She joined HMT as a Partner in March 2021. She has completed more than 200 deals across a wide range of sectors, but with a strong focus on technology and tech-enabled businesses.
Experience
Wendy began her career with Grant Thornton in Oxford where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992. She was promoted to Corporate Finance Partner in 1999 and in addition to over 200 successful deal completions, she founded Grant Thornton’s Technology Practice and was also Managing Partner of the firm’s Oxford office for several years. More recently she was an elected member on Grant Thornton’s Partnership Oversight Board.
Wendy is a well known and respected Corporate Finance Adviser with deep experience of both sell-side and buy-side advisory. She has transacted across a wide range of sectors from funeral directors to logistics and automotive to real estate, although she specializes in working with TMT businesses and has considerable expertise in advising IT services and software companies.
Wendy was voted “Corporate Finance Adviser of the Year” at the Thames Valley Deal Awards in both 2018 and 2020; the first woman to receive that accolade. In addition to the “day job”, she is a Governor at Cokethorpe School and a Non-Executive Director of The Oxfordshire LEP.
Education
Wendy graduated with a Modern History degree from Oxford University in 1988.
Life drives and passions
Corporate Finance does not lend itself to an abundance of downtime! Wendy has two adult daughters and a husband who manage to take up much of her spare time but she also enjoys walking her dog, reading and writing, planting things, seeing friends and family and planning holidays. She is passionate about history, travel and family and committed to improving diversity within the Corporate Finance community!
