Andrew Thomson is the Managing Partner at HMT and one of the most experienced Corporate Finance advisors in the UK with an exceptional track record of over 300 completed transactions.
Experience
Andrew is a founding partner of HMT and has nearly 35 years corporate finance experience. Andrew qualified with Ernst & Young in 1987 and spent two years in Corporate Recovery before specialising in Corporate Finance. Andrew left Ernst & Young in 1992 to set up HMT.
His expertise is both in respect of buy-side and sell-side work with his buy-side advice combining his Corporate Finance and Transaction Support skills. Andrew’s experience includes a significant amount of private equity work and, having advised through three recessions, he also has vast experience advising stressed businesses and accelerated sales processes.
He has been voted “Corporate Finance Advisor of the Year” at the Thames Valley Deals Awards on a record four occasions.
Education
Andrew is a graduate of the University of Aberdeen with a Master in Economics with accountancy and is a qualified Chartered Accountant as well as a member of the Corporate Finance Faculty at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW).
Life drives and passions
Being both prolific at deal making and fathering 7 children, downtime is somewhat of a luxury for Andrew. However, when not at work or enjoying his family, Andrew enjoys both shooting and rugby, albeit his rugby playing days are long over and he enthusiastically spectates from a safe distance.
